MKA helped transform a historic power plant built in 1901 into a 70,000-ft² flagship store, preserving the essence of the landmark while improving its structural integrity. Braced frames and high-loft drag struts, as well as steel strongbacking for existing masonry pilasters, reinforce the building. Broken into four distinct quadrants, the project utilizes architecturally exposed beams as structure and utilized sustainable elements, such as 24,000 ft² of recycled wood and 30 original restored windows.
