University of Iowa Voxman School of Music

This six-story music-instructional building features a 700-seat performance hall, a 200-seat recital hall, an organ performance hall, a music library, rehearsal rooms, faculty studios, and offices. The facility’s various sensitive spaces required wide-ranging acoustic treatments, from the symphony-style box to the “box-in-box” construction for the numerous rehearsal rooms.  MKA also developed the parametric modeling needed to assist with the form for the acoustic ceiling in the main performance hall while coordinating with mechanical services.
