22-story, 134-m (440-ft) tall, 102,253-m² (1.1-million-ft²) hospital—the tallest and one of the largest Children’s hospitals in the world—with 12 levels of nursing bed tower stacked over 10 levels of lobby, emergency, and D&T areas. The upper portion of the building cantilevers 9.1 m (30 ft) over building separation space below, maximizing the tight 0.73-hectare (1.8-acre), L-shaped urban site. Designed using fully integrated Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques, the new building connects by a pedestrian bridge to Prentice Women’s Hospital.
