69,607-m² (749,250-ft²) design/build, below-grade convention center and an adjacent four-story, 21,832 m² (235,000 ft²) medical showroom facility. The convention center’s steel-framed structure, which spans up to 36.5 m (120 ft), also supports a landscaped public plaza and two roadways above. MKA’s structural solutions addressed the unique challenge of competing desires to retain the original mat foundation, minimally raise the plaza elevation, and maintain a minimum of 9 m (30 ft) clear in the exhibit hall.
