Elliott Bay Central Seawall
The replacement of a derelict seawall and the long-term vision for a viaduct-free waterfront downtown included MKA’s design for a light-penetrating sidewalk providing natural light into the salmon migration corridor below a new cantilevered sidewalk. In addition, MKA’s civil site design introduced a beach for habitat restoration and public amenities for pedestrians above the seawall.
