Seismic retrofit of a nine-story, 18,580-m² (200,000-ft²), fully occupied "Essential Facility," serving as the only regional Level I trauma center in a five-state area. MKA’s structural solution applied fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) strips to the exterior of the building in a first-of-its-kind reinforcement solution that cost less than a fifth of the hospital’s original budget.
