Three-level, 23,600-m² (254,028-ft²) design/build terminal attached to and serving Concourse B and the new South Concourse (currently in Schematic Design) that adds 18 additional gates (both also by MKA). The project features a first-ever use of a "special truss moment frame" seismic restraint system at a major airport. This innovative structural system enhances layout flexibility, readily accommodates expansion plans, provides open and unobstructed space, performs well in earthquakes, and reduced construction costs by 10 percent. Sophisticated analysis techniques accomplished and optimized the architect’s desired curvilinear shapes.
