A phased expansion and renovation of the international airport terminal, the project encompasses a two-story, 4,366-m² (47,000-ft²) design/build federal inspection services building, three new gatehouses totaling 1,600 m² (17,000 ft²), and 6,875 m² (74,000 ft²) of remodeled spaces with at-grade parking.  MKA also provided civil site design for the fast-tracked expansion project, including adjustment of curb alignment, raised and signalized crosswalk, force protection and landscape layout, and rainwater harvesting for airport re-use. The remodel included six upgraded airplane boarding gates. Despite a compressed schedule, the project was completed two months earlier than planned, saving the owner $30 million. Airport operations were not interrupted during construction. This project is LEED-Gold certified.
