  • 2022 Construction Excellence Award (Hensel Phelps), Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Washington

Four-story, 43,449-m² (467,684-ft²) expansion and seismic rehabilitation of an operational airport concourse including 8 new gates and 12 updated gates, new upper-level mezzanine, 14,021-m² (46,000-ft²) dining and retail expansion, and the addition of a new 1,208-m² (13,000-ft²) boardroom for Alaska Airlines. The performance-based seismic strengthening and expansion was achieved by implementing an innovative steel moment frame system at the perimeter of the concourse. In addition, the design includes a new long-span roof structure that spans 72 m (260 ft) and traverses completely over the existing North Satellite and an undulating "river" roof that enhances the Northwest sense of place.
