Renovation and seismic upgrade of a historic 30,193-m² (325,000-ft²), 1925 campus library which remained operational during construction. MKA’s design introduced strengthening elements in unobtrusive, sometimes hidden, locations to improve performance without compromising historic features. This approach reduced the need for intrusive structural additions by 50 percent and cut costs by 30 percent, compared to more traditional solutions.
