Senior Principal Kevin Aswegan, PE, SE, F.SEI, has been named a 2027 ENR West Top Young Professional, an award that honors professionals under 40 for their experience, leadership, and community service. With the honor, Kevin also advances to ENR’s National Top 20 Under 40 competition.
Kevin has built his career at MKA since 2013, rapidly advancing to Senior Principal and Board Member by focusing on Performance-Based Design for high-rise towers in some of the country’s toughest seismic and wind regions. That work reached a milestone on ATX Tower in Austin, where Kevin led the world’s first application of Performance-Based Wind Design, an approach that saved cost and schedule while reducing embodied carbon.
His commitment to advancing the profession extends well beyond his own projects. As chair of both the SEI Advancement of Performance-Based Design Committee and the ASCE 7 Dynamic Analysis Task Committee, he is helping shape seismic provisions for the 2028 building code. He is just as invested in the engineers of tomorrow, mentoring high school students through the ACE Mentorship Program and helping lead the Museum of Flight STEM Camp.
Congratulations, Kevin, on this well-deserved recognition!
