This 16-story tower housing Google’s Cambridge headquarters includes 344,000 ft² of office space, 36,500 ft² of retail and lobby, and a combined 61,000 ft² of above- and below-grade support/ back-of-house space. MKA incorporated an existing and adjacent building into the tower’s structural design by bracing and re-using the original building’s one-story foundation during construction. The new tower’s first five levels connect to the existing structure, while drilled mini-piles support the new building’s columns within the existing structure’s footprint.
