Brown University Lindemann Performing Arts Center

Features such as moveable seating gantries inform the highly flexible design of this six-story building with a 500-seat performance space accommodating events as large as the university’s 150-person orchestra and as intimate as a single performer.  Other components of this project, which targets LEED Silver certification, include rehearsal rooms, a cafe, dance studios, and back-of-house space. MKA designed a long-span truss and glass structure to serve the performing arts box, while sheet rock and steel studs isolate the theater from surrounding noise.
