12-story, 575-seat multi-form theater designed for complete adaptability. One-of-a-kind balconies move in and out of the architect’s ground floor “transparent zone,” while the stage, orchestra pit, and seating wagons all reconfigure and retract. Complex programming stipulations resulted in a nontraditional stacked and offset configuration, with just one contiguous floor throughout. The unique structural system, with sloping exposed-concrete columns, was modeled in 3-D to facilitate project coordination.
ARCHITECT: REX/OMA, Joshua Prince-Ramus (Partner in Charge) and Rem Koolhaas, Kendall/Heaton Associates (AOR)
