San Jose (SJC) Mineta Terminal B

Terminal B’s innovative design features three levels attached to and serving Concourse B and the South Concourse (both designed by MKA) and incorporates the first-ever use of a “special truss moment frame” seismic restraint system at a major airport. The innovative system enhances layout flexibility, readily accommodates expansion plans, provides open and unobstructed space, performs well in earthquakes, and reduces construction costs by 10 percent. The project’s design also accommodates a phased expansion.
