Steel and Timber Create a ‘Hybrid Hit’

A new 1.4 million-sq.-ft development on the banks of the James River in Richmond, Virginia, is a six-acre campus with a 28-story steel frame office tower and a striking 121-ft-tall steel and timber hybrid amenity building. The amenity building, called Foundry South, is a campus hub that welcomes visitors with an assembly space and recruitment center. With goals to create a warmer and unique appearance for the heart of the headquarters, Foundry South was envisioned as a mass timber focal point with much of the structure exposed.
