Beatriz Arostegui Recognized in BD+C’s 2026 “40 Under 40”

Magnusson Klemencic Associates is proud to announce that Senior Associate Beatriz Arostegui, PE, SE, has joined Building Design+Construction’s “40 Under 40” Class of 2026.  Each year, the national program spotlights rising AEC leaders shaping the future of the built environment, and Beatriz’s work in earthquake resilience and complex existing buildings has earned her a spot among this year’s honorees.

Since joining MKA in 2014, Beatriz has become a trusted leader in earthquake resilience and the renovation of complex existing buildings, from Salesforce Tower in San Francisco to the $2.6 billion Los Angeles Convention Center Renovation now underway ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games.  Her work on national committees, including NEHRP and ASCE 41, is shaping how the next generation of buildings is designed to withstand future earthquakes.

What sets Beatriz apart is how she brings others along.  As a first-generation college graduate and a mother, she knows firsthand what it takes to build a career in engineering, and she shares those experiences to guide others in the field.  She mentors high school students through the ACE Mentor Program, supports women engineers across MKA, and speaks candidly about the challenges women and parents face in this profession. Her example shows that leading demanding work and raising a family can go hand in hand.

“Beatriz is an exceptional role model and engineer,” said MKA Principal Peter Somers, PE, SE. “She brings technical rigor, steady leadership, and a generous commitment to mentoring others—while also demonstrating that women and working parents can thrive in demanding engineering leadership roles.”

Congratulations, Beatriz!
