University of Illinois at Chicago Computer Design Research and Learning Center

The newest building to replace the east campus’ aging infrastructure, which dates back to 1965, this five-story, state-of-the-art hub with 35 labs serves nearly 2,000 engineering and computer science students. It offers 16,000 ft² of classroom space, a 1,200-ft² robotics lab, collaborative learning spaces, a community center, and office space for administrators and student affairs. Visitors enter the building through a soaring, daylit atrium, and the project, designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, is adjacent to Memorial Grove.
