Wai Kai at Hoakalei

This waterfront recreation and lifestyle venue includes 26 one- and two-level retail buildings, a 52-acre lagoon for water sports, and The Lineup at Wai Kai—the world’s largest deep-water standing surf wave. The retail village includes several restaurants, cabanas, a coffee bar, a second-floor ballroom, event lawn with fire pit, and shady terraces covered in trellises. Wai Kai Wave’s 22 high-power pumps and sub-surface foils create waves ranging from 30, 65, and 100 feet wide and six feet tall. The wave can be split into three channels accommodating more than 30 surfers at a time. The pool employs patented technology to create a deep-water experience with natural wave shapes and glassy surfaces, allowing for carving turns and top-to-bottom surfing on real surfboards with fins.
