San Jose (SJC) Mineta Concourse B

Connected to Terminal B, also designed by MKA, this LEED Silver concourse added nine new gates, an area for an in-line baggage screening system below grade, and space for concessions and retail. MKA’s economic design achieves the desired unimpeded architectural expression by utilizing a 3.5-ft-deep, 35-ft-long special truss moment frame system never before incorporated into a major airport.  The structural system provides lateral restraint for earthquakes and wind forces while providing increased MEP routing flexibility despite the building’s reduced height.
